Alex Shootman

President & CEO

As President and CEO of Workfront, Alex drives the overall strategy, vision, and execution for the company, ensuring that Workfront is a dedicated partner in helping its customers transform the work experience. Shootman brings more than 25 years of experience in all areas of revenue and profit generation for technology organizations, with significant experience leading SaaS-based companies.

Prior to joining Workfront, Alex was president of Apptio, where he was responsible for the company’s integrated sales and services functions globally. Prior to Apptio, Alex was the President of Eloqua, where he was responsible for leading the organization’s global sales, customer success, and field operations teams. Alex was integral in leading Eloqua’s category creation as an enterprise SaaS company, and in 2012 was a member of the team that helped bring Eloqua to a successful public offering, subsequently being acquired by Oracle. Shootman has also held executive-level positions with Vignette, TeleTech, BMC Software and IBM.

In his free time Alex can usually be found trying to convince his legs that they really don’t hurt on a road bike or running trail, admiring the view from a 14er in Colorado, or down on a reef in his home state of Hawaii. That is if his four kids leave him any free time.

Pete Childs

Chief Financial Officer

As Workfront’s Chief Financial Officer, Pete will be responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction of Workfront, as well as the finance, accounting, planning, and legal teams.

Pete brings over 20 years of experience working in finance leadership, including the successful completion of two IPOs. Prior to Workfront, Pete was the Chief Financial Officer at Cvent, a leading cloud-based enterprise event management platform. During his tenure at Cvent, Pete completed a $1 billion IPO and a successful follow-on less than six months later. He also contributed to the company’s high-growth and profitability with a 30+% revenue CAGR, resulting in a doubling of revenue while maintaining positive margins during his tenure. Pete also held leadership positions at HCR ManorCare, where he participated in the spin-off of the Choice Hotels franchise, and at Towers Watson, where he participated in the company’s IPO and 700% revenue growth as the company grew organically and through acquisition up to $3.5 billion during his tenure.

In Pete’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and seven children, working with his hands, as well as chasing views, either from an oceanfront or from the top of a mountain.

Carl Cross

Executive Vice President of Sales

As Executive Vice President of Sales for Workfront, Carl is responsible for worldwide account management and revenue growth.

Carl has over 20 years of global sales leadership experience, growing great teams, and building and executing long-term business strategies that lead to company growth and customer satisfaction. Prior to Workfront, Carl was the senior vice president of worldwide sales at AppSense and has held leadership and executive management roles at HP Enterprise Security, BMC Software, SAP and PeopleSoft.

Paige P. Erickson

Senior Vice President of Business Development

As Senior Vice President of Business Development for Workfront, Paige leads a team to create and leverage a broad partner eco-system.

Paige has more than 25 years of industry experience and an impressive record of building and managing teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Paige is skilled at creating partner strategies, messaging, and go-to-market models. In addition, she is an expert at developing new partner programs and launching partner networks, including comprehensive partner training and certification programs. Prior to Workfront, Paige was the vice president of partner strategy and programs at Sage, and also held leadership positions at Billtrust, CA Technologies, BMC Software and IBM. Paige is the recipient of multiple awards and industry recognition including CRN Channel Chief and CRN Top Women of the Channel.

In Paige’s free time she enjoys traveling to new and unique places and having fun her family and friends. Her hobbies include skiing, scuba diving, and golf.

Sue Fellows

Executive Vice President, Customer Success

As Workfront’s EVP of Customer Success, Sue is responsible for managing the Workfront customer organization, including: Customer Success, Education & Training, Customer Success Operations, Strategic Services, and Technical Support.

Sue brings nearly two decades of experience working with customers to drive value and customer satisfaction. Prior to Workfront, Sue was the Vice President of Global Customer Excellence at Apttus. During her tenure at Apttus, Fellows’ contributions in building the customer success and support functions resulted in increased customer satisfaction scores, as well as higher renewal rates for the organization. Sue has worked for both start up and enterprise technology companies including RightNow Technologies and Oracle, and has held leadership roles in Professional Services, Operations and Customer Success Management.

In Sue’s free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her family.

Brent Nixon

Senior Vice President, SMB Group

As the Senior Vice President of the SMB Group, Brent is responsible for sales and go-to-market strategy for Workfront's small & medium business market segment.

Brent brings over 20 years of technology industry experience in executive leadership, sales, and product management. Prior to Workfront, Brent was VP of Sales and Marketing at Vineyard Network, which was acquired by Procera Networks in 2013. Brent has held leadership positions in both startup and global public companies and also was the President and CEO for Cymphonix Corp prior to their acquisition.

In Brent’s free time, he enjoys the many outdoor activities with his wife and three daughters, including skiing (snow and water) golfing, hiking and cycling.

Joe Staples

Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer for Workfront, Joe leads a best-in-class marketing organization focused on building the Workfront brand and driving awareness, thought-leadership, and demand generation.

Joe brings with him 18 years of deep marketing and leadership experience as a Chief Marketing Officer/Executive Vice President of Marketing. Prior to Workfront, Joe was the Chief Marketing Officer for Interactive Intelligence, where he increased the company’s brand recognition from 6% to over 75%, while helping to transition them from a software provider, to a SaaS leader. Additionally, Joe has held prior marketing and management positions, all in the tech sector, with Novell, Captaris, and Wicat Systems.

Joe knows how to build and execute creative campaigns that get noticed; having developed a number of award-winning brand building campaigns using video, promotional contests, events, PR, and advertising.

Additionally, Joe has extensive international experience, having built marketing organizations from scratch in EMEA, APAC and Latin America. He is a frequent presenter at events and has been published in a number of leading business and tech publications.

In Joe’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, and is a self-admitted, non-recovering advertising junkie. He is also a huge baseball fan (go M’s) and enjoys vacation travel, racquetball and golf.

Steven ZoBell

Chief Product & Technology Officer

As Chief Product & Technology Officer for Workfront, Steve leads the Workfront engineering and platform hosting and operations organizations as they develop the company’s purpose-built solutions for IT and marketing teams. He also works closely with the Workfront product and services teams to ensure that the technology platform is evolving to meet customer and market needs.

Steve brings more than 20 years of product development, software engineering and business management experience to the Workfront Team. Prior to Workfront, Steve was the Chief Product and Technology Officer at ADP AdvancedMD where his contributions included the launch of the AdvancedMD iPad and iPhone mobile solutions, and the development of the AdvancedInsight business intelligence tools. He also worked closely with the Implementation Services teams to dramatically increase first year satisfaction of customers. Steve also previously served as the Chief Technology Officer for inContact. Some of his other accomplishments include overseeing the development of three Microsoft franchises: Amped snowboarding, Top Spin tennis, and Links golf.
During the course of his career, Steve has also been involved in the development of more than 25 critically acclaimed, award-winning, commercial software products.

In Steve’s free time, he can be found spending time with his family where they are constantly looking for opportunities to venture to Southern Utah to go jeeping and boating or simply find an awesome beach anywhere in the world to play and relax on.

Scott Johnson

Chairman and Founder

Scott Johnson, Chairman and Founder of Workfront is recognized as a business leader who challenges traditional management mentalities and applies out-of-the-box thinking to solve the important business problems faced by organizations today. “What I really care about is helping organizations understand and organize the work that is most important to business success,” says Johnson. “Business leaders who are able to clearly communicate objectives and efficiently organize the workplace empower their employees to maximize the value of their efforts. A true adrenaline junky, Scott hasn’t found a sport that involves going fast with something strapped to his feet he doesn’t like. The same passion for pushing limits to achieve excellence in extreme sports helped make Workfront a fast growing company that has been instrumental in helping thousands of business leaders empower their workforce, streamline processes, and transform their businesses.

Johnson is a graduate of Brigham Young University and an acknowledged expert in project management. An engaging speaker and consultant, Johnson has been featured in such publications as CIO Magazine, Business Management Magazine, PM Network, and Business Week.

Susan Carstensen

Susan has helped to drive the growth initiatives of Workfront for the past three years as a board member. She brings more than 30 years of business leadership experience to the table, most recently from RightNow Technologies (acquired in 2012 by Oracle, Inc.), where she served in various roles, including Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and SVP, Customer Experience.

Susan is currently a partner at Yellowstone Growth Partners, LLC, a growth advisory firm, and a board member at: Socrata, Foundant, IgniteFeedback, PFL, D.A.Davidson, Bridger Ski Foundation and the Montana State University Board of Governors. Susan also served on the Board of Directors of LiveOffice (acquired by Symantec).

Prior to RightNow, Carstensen was CFO at Powerhouse Technologies, Inc., and held management positions at Martin Marietta Astronautics Group (acquired by Lockheed Martin) and Ernst & Young LLP.

Susan holds a B.A. and B.S. in Business and Political Science from Montana State University-Bozeman. Susan lives in Bozeman, Montana and spends her free time enjoying the great outdoors with her husband, practicing yoga with her daughter, following her son’s ski racing career and reading.

Richard Allen

Richard Allen is a seasoned business executive with more than 25 years of experience in technology companies. Mr. Allen was the chief financial officer of J.D. Edwards (now Oracle Corporation), an enterprise application software company, from January 1990 to September 2003, and held several senior management positions and titles since joining J.D. Edwards in August 1985. Prior to joining J.D. Edwards, Mr. Allen served as controller for Luff Exploration, an oil and gas exploration and production company, from 1982 to 1985, and as a senior accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, a public accounting firm, from 1979 to 1982. He also serves on the board of directors of three privately held companies.

Mr. Allen holds a B.S. degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Colorado State. He joined the Workfront board of directors in early 2012.

Peter Arrowsmith

Peter Arrowsmith joined JMI in 1996 and is based in San Diego. He is currently a director of Workfront, Business.com, Granicus, Lytx, Recruiting.com, The Search Agency, WhiteHat Security and xMatters. Prior to joining JMI, Peter was an associate at AEA Investors and a business analyst at McKinsey & Company.

John Avirett

John is currently a Principal at Greenspring Associates, where he oversees the due diligence of fund and direct investments as well as management of the Analyst Program. Prior to joining the global venture capital investment firm, Avirett was an Associate at Zurich Financial Services. John is currently a board observer on Turn and Zulily, and is responsible for the firm’s investment in Lithium Technologies.

John graduated from John Hopkins University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics. John also studied via exchange at the University of Wollongong in Australia.

Bill Conroy

Bill Conroy is a proven technology executive with expertise in corporate strategy and operations for high growth companies. Bill was an IBM Solutions Executive in IBM’s Information Management Organization. He joined Initiate Systems as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director in July of 2002 and orchestrated the sale of the company to IBM in March of 2010. He served as the President / Chief Operating Officer and Director of Click Commerce (Nasdaq: CKCM). Prior to Click Commerce, Bill was a Venture Partner at Insight Capital Group. Prior to that he served as EVP and COO of Tenfold Corporation (Nasdaq: TENF). Bill enjoyed eleven years with Oracle Corporation where his last position was to manage operations in the central and western U.S. He began his career at IBM and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
