For Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, which is allotted funds annually, prioritizing key initiatives is critical to enhancing IT services, facilities, and logistics, yet inconsistent project and portfolio tracking processes made a complete view of investments difficult. Today, the healthcare provider uses the Workfront work management solution to increase visibility across its entire portfolio, helping to prevent lost project funding and saving employees time.
First founded in 1535, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) reorganized in 1995 as a merger of all of the public hospitals in Geneva. With 1,800 beds and 10,000 employees, it is one of the five university hospitals of Switzerland, and the largest one in the country. HUG also operates 40 outpatient clinics. Across HUG, more than 500 projects are underway at any given time. Over half of those projects are managed by two Project Management Offices (PMOs)—an IT PMO, created in 2011, and a Facilities & Logistics PMO, established in 2012.
